     A TALE OF FEMALE FARMER

     FINANCING (FFF) IN PAKISTAN…




    The case is framed in the context of women refinancing scheme launched

    by SBP in August 2017. The objective of the scheme was to empower women

    in remote rural areas of the country, where it could also be pivotal in addressing
    the persistent gender gap in accessing the financial services. Three years down the

     line, the performance of one institution (FFS) outshined as compared to other large institutions

    in the financial industry.

    The case captures learnings based on two facets of the financing strategy. The gloomy side of this tale pops
    up from dairy value chain financing endeavor where lady farmers of district Ghizer, Gilgit Baltistan (GB) were provided

     with imported Holstein Friesian cows. The case encapsulates various factors; including promoter selection for project,
