A Tricky Tale of Technology & Tracts (T&T)

The case is written in the context of technological adaptation; integration

with Land Records Management Information System (LRIMS) of the government

of Punjab (GoPb) by the banking industry. The intervention was past due on the part
of banks and hardly any progress was visible. However, one of the leading tech-savvy

bank, HBL, jump starts the implementation on this front.

Land is central to Agri. economy, but land records in Pakistan remained manual for ages. It was only until

late 2000's when Punjab - the largest populated province of Pakistan - undertook the initiative to automate

land records. Upon completion, GoPb eventually launched LRMIS through the Punjab Land Record Authority (PLRA)

in early 2018. The next challenge was how to transform the benefit of this automation to farmers and cultivators for availing bank
finance. The most feasible option was to integrate with PLRA’s LRMIS for smooth services to the borrowers.
